I'm now part of the Fulbright Specialist Program
January, 2025: Delighted to announce that I was selected to be part of the Fulbright Specialist Program, 2025-2028. As part of this roster of scholar-practitioners, I can be invited by
-
international institutions of higher ed,
-
nonprofit organizations,
-
arts/culture groups,
-
governmental agencies, etc
These international entities often ask Fulbright Specialists to lead workshops, arrange consultations, and participate in convenings related to the Specialist's areas of expertise. Fulbright will fund travel and some expenses to locations outside the US.
I'm happy to talk with you about
-
organizing for education justice,
-
promoting intergenerational and family civic engagement, and
-
teaching/creative writing of multi-ethnic literatures of the US

"Ghost Woman, Fox Woman"
I like to write about impossible things, like a Florida theme park that existed in the 1990s in Orlando. It featured tiny monuments from popular tourist sites in China and was intended to lure tourists to the Florida park and then encourage them to book tours to the real-life, big-as-day country of China. Of course, no one in central Florida was interested in doing anything of the kind. Chalk it up as a failure for the People's Republic of China, which ran the park. But as a u-topia, a no-place, it was a perfect location to set a road trip comedy about international reproductive justice. How strange and awful that there were actually more reproductive health choices for American women in the '90s, the period in which this story is set, than today.
